"November comes and November goes. With the last red berries and the first white snows. With night coming early and dawn coming late, and ice in the bucket and frost by the gate. The fires burn and the kettles sing, and earth sinks to rest until next spring."

—Clyde Watson

What's Happening?

We survived.

October is the busiest month of the year for us, not just because it's fall wedding season, but also because of the Halloween activities and events that we help coordinate. Now that Lana is old enough, she got to ride the school float in the homecoming parade, which meant I (Cynthia) had to plan ahead to get her a Halloween costume sooner than I normally would. We were originally going to do a family theme (the Addams Family obviously), but we weren't able to get everything in time for the homecoming parade. Lana decided to be Mal from the Descendents movies instead of Wednesday Addams. In addition to homecoming, we also had Literacy Night (the school read Alice in Wonderland), 50's Day, and there were two book club projects due. We also had multiple dentist and doctor visits. I think there should be a month-long break from school in October to prevent fall illnesses from circulating. Mostly kidding.

With all the weddings, school activities, and extracurricular events going on, it was all hands on deck to survive October. Rich really showed up for me this month, going above and beyond in order to make sure I didn't get too overwhelmed. His efforts mostly worked. My getting overwhelmed is usually due to my own overthinking or overloading myself with responsibilities. But things are going well! I've been able to stay on track and on schedule with editing and getting materials ready for upcoming events. I was even able to squeeze in brunch with some friends and keep up with my regular exercise routine.

Six beautiful weddings filled our weekends and we couldn't be more honored to have celebrated with the couples who filled our month with so much love. And speaking of love, I have to mention how much I loved seeing the variety of colors and textures this fall! It's been amazing to see a departure from past years when every fall wedding had the same color scheme. Every October '22 wedding was so unique and full of personality, it showed how much care each couple devoted to planning their day. I can't wait to share all of the beautiful pictures as I get time to blog. Typically as my editing load lessens, my blogging gears get turning, so get ready for all of 2022's weddings to have a turn in the spotlight.

With the end of October comes the end of my busiest time of the year and the ability to refocus and rejuvenate. There are still hundreds of pictures to edit and another wedding to shoot, but by the end of November, things will slow down and we'll begin celebrating the holidays. November is the time of year that I remind everyone to schedule their holiday portrait sessions and get their prints ordered because once December comes, it'll be too late. So while you're munching on Halloween candy, be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to contact us about portrait session availability!
