I so rarely shoot portraits when the light is this golden. I've gotten used to shooting in overcast light, in midday sun, and in early evening light. When spring finally made it's grand entrance this year, I jumped at the opportunity to schedule some golden hour portrait sessions. Leah happened to be one of the people I got to work with and, boy, her session was magical.
I know Leah pretty well. She and her mother are very active in our church. At almost 15, Leah is one of our most talented members of the youth group. She is active in our drama ministry as well as a member of the church praise team with me. She sings harmony most of the time, and I have to admit that I love the way our voices sound together. Her grandmother is actually a broadway performer who stared in "The King and I," and her father is a talented musician, so it's no wonder where Leah gets her talent from.
I photographed Leah once before with Riley, as they are close friends. This is the first time I've photographed her alone. Knowing her, it was no surprise when she arrived in this beautiful gown with props in hand. I'm so glad she did, because she brought my vision for this session to life.
