There is no pretending, I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.
A TRUE OHIO WEDDING
Beth and Erik had their beautiful and delightfully vivid red wedding back in September at the Market at Ebbert Farms in Belmont, OH. The red and gray theme was a true Ohio University shout out, which was such a change of tune to what I've grown used to shooting weddings in Pittsburgh. As an Ohioan, let me just say, it was a blast! I've come to really enjoy these close-to-home weddings. And the Market at Ebbert Farms is such a wonderful venue to host a wedding reception. This was our first time shooting there, but it wasn't our last and for that we are so glad. It's always a treat to get to revisit awesome venues.
One of the first faces I saw when I arrived to the Market, was Jessica's, Beth's sister-in-law whose wedding I photographed back in 2017. I knew I'd be seeing some familiar faces at Beth and Erik's wedding, which makes for an enjoyable day that much more fun. The ladies got ready in the posh bridal suite at the Market with Amanda Kinney working her magic with everyone's hair and the crew from Cloud 9 doing the makeup. Everyone looked absolutely stunning. While the room was bustling with activity, Rich and I took some time to photograph details. There were so many details! I was in heaven.
The venue was decked out in red, silver, sequins, and subtle Halloween decor. I absolutely loved it. Also, pro-tip, when in need of a nice background for details, a bridesmaid's dress does the trick!
Once all the ladies had hair and makeup complete, we moved on to Belmont Hills Country Club to finish up getting ready. Erik and the guys were in the men's locker room and Rich went to hang out with them. I stayed with Beth in the ladies locker room and once she finished getting buttoned up in her gown, she took a private moment to read the letter from Erik. It was such a touching moment and ValCinema captured it perfectly.
Once everyone was ready Rich and I headed outside to the ceremony space and waited for everything to begin. I have to say watching Erik's reaction to Beth walking down the aisle was priceless. I had a feeling he was the type of guy who would cry. The pure love and adoration was so wonderful and Beth's reaction was equally as great! Michael Kimball officiated the wedding and added such lovely personalization to the ceremony. I thought his take on the unity sand ceremony was very interesting adding in the white sand to represent God's presence in the marriage.
The weather was perfect for this outdoor wedding and it was nice to see a receiving line after the conclusion. We don't see a lot of receiving lines these days, so it was fun to see the socially distant air fives and air hugs.
After all the guests went into the Country Club for cocktail hour, we joked around with the family during their group formals and then raced down the hills in golf carts with the wedding party. Like seriously...those carts can pick up some speed. I was a little worried we were going to have a big pile up for a minute.

But we all survived and we were able to get some great wedding party and couples portraits out on the golf course. After which we hopped in the limo for some fun party bus moments and we arrived back to the Market early! So Beth and Erik took Rich with them to the extension bridge in Wheeling and he got some more portraits with them, while I got my lighting set up. From the pictures he brought back it looked like they had a blast. Later in the evening, we snuck out of the reception to get some nice portraits during blue hour. It was so pretty out on the venue, so we took advantage of their pumpkin patch and the field out past the mansion. I think these were my favorite portraits of the day. Beth and Erik are so easy to work with and so sweet with each other.
The Market at Ebbert Farms has one of the best staffs that I've had the honor of working with. The managers are wonderful and the DJ they use was fantastic. The venue looks absolutely amazing and it is so versatile. You can deck it out to be completely rustic, very industrial, or elegant. If you're looking for an awesome Ohio venue with a wonderful staff, definitely check out The Market at Ebbert Farms.
This group of people was down to party and kept it going late into the evening. I loved every moment of this reception. It ended perfectly with a sparkler exit to celebrate this sparkling couple.
Congratulations to the Newley weds, Beth and Erik!
