MONTH LONG HIATUS
Maybe not a whole lot of people know this, but when September rolled around and postponements and cancellations were hitting my inbox, I was looking at my calendar with dread and anxiety. October was full of scratched off names.
For the first time in four years, my month was empty and I had no idea what I was going to do.
I thought that maybe I would take the time off to really dig in and get some marketing education in...or maybe even just try to enjoy the forced vacation (although Rich and I both knew that wasn't likely to happen). Fortunately, I didn't have to find out what I would do.
SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR
Sometime near the end of September, my Facebook messenger started to light up with DMs from other photographers. I'd been putting my name out there for second shooting gigs when I started to get the feeling that this year wouldn't go as planned. I have to admit that I have been struggling a lot with imposter syndrome and the comparison game lately, but I must be doing something right to have other photographers trust me with their clients. I am so thankful for those who picked me out of the line up of names and gave me work when I had none.
This blog post really should have came during Thanksgiving, but ya know...food and family.
WORKING WITH THE GUYS
Thank you to Cait Wirk Photo for having me second shoot for Johnna and Mike's beautiful early October wedding. I very rarely work with grooms and their dudes, but I always enjoy it when I get the chance. Mike and his crew were a fun bunch to hang out and joke around with. A few of my favorite moments of the day were the readings of the personal letters that Johnna wrote to Mike, her brother, and her dad. These tearjerking moments are always so touching, and I almost feel awkward watching...but also I don't because I gotta get the picture. So cry, sir, cry for the camera.
A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING
Johnna and Mike had their beautiful and romantic wedding at the gorgeous White Barn in Prospect, PA. If you are considering a barn wedding, definitely check this venue out. It has a scenic property for an outdoor ceremony complete with a pond and gazebo and an open sky for that glorious sunset. The reception space is cozy and rustic, while the downstairs features a chic bridal suite and an open space for cocktail hour.
The ceremony was held in front of the gazebo and Johnna's pastor officiated. Though this was the first that I'd met both Johnna and Mike, I was really drawn in by the stories their pastor shared about them. Their love is beautiful and sweet and I am glad that I was able to spend time getting to see them together, as little as that was. I peaced-out before the reception.
As for the team of vendors, wow! They were so great! I really hope that I get the opportunity to work with each of them again, I had so much fun.
Anyway, enough of me blabbering. Check out the vendor list and photos below!
