A BEAUTIFUL BARN WEDDING WITH UNEXPECTED DANCING Kayla and Nick got married last September on their family's farm in Irondale, OH. The barn was lit with twinkling lights and served as both the ceremony and reception venue. With DJ Garry mixing the music, there was dancing all night, which Kayla was surprised by. When I first met with Kayla, she was considering not even having a DJ because she didn't think any of her family or friends were the dancing types. The dancing, the mingling and the children playing outside all made for a perfect family event.
Kayla had her hair styled with her mom and her sister (also her maid of honor) at Halo Salon. Afterwards, they headed to the Glenn Family Farm, and met up with the rest of the bridal party at the farm house. The girls began doing their own makeup and I started styling some of the details. There were tender moments between all and I loved watching Kayla help her sister with her eyeliner and lashes.
Nick and his guys got ready at a house just a minute down the street. They joked around and laughed while passing around shots of whiskey. When they were all dressed, they made their way to the barn and waited for the ceremony to begin.
The guests all sat at the reception tables divided down the center to make an aisle and Nick waited at the top of it with the officiant. When Kayla walked down the aisle accompanied by both her mother and father, Nick couldn't stop smiling or the tears from shining in his eyes. He may have been nervous leading up to that moment, but his reaction was one of a man who was certain and confident and so happy.
After family and wedding party photos, the bride and groom were introduced back into the barn for the reception. They went straight to cutting the cake, which was a summer berries dream, and then to the maid of honor's toast, which was sentimental and lovely. Bad Axe BBQ catered and it was some of the best catering I had that summer. From there, DJ Garry got the guests on the dance floor. There was one couple there who had me watching with my jaw dropped because they were on professional level dancing. And then there was Logan and Cody, who rocked the house and brought smiles to everyone. After the money dance, I grabbed Kayla and Nick and the wedding party for some final sunset pictures out in the field.
Kayla and Nick met in high school. He followed her around everywhere she went, but not in a creepy way. They had found themselves in all of the same classes and couldn't have avoided each other if they'd tried. Even so, Nick found himself wanting to be around Kayla. He said that her sunny smile was the first thing he noticed about her. Eventually they started dating and they realized that they'd found their future.
On New Year's Day 2019 Nick proposed to Kayla. The very next day, Kayla got in contact with me about documenting their day and I'm so glad she did. Nick and Kayla's high school sweetheart love story made me giddy, but I am a little biased, because I also married my high school sweetheart.
I am so glad I got to be apart of this wonderful wedding. Kayla and Nick are perfect together and you could see it on their faces the whole day about how happy they were.
