AN OUTDOOR WEDDING WITH A TWIST ENDING
Nathaniel and Paige got married in mid October at the beautiful Lakeside Venues in McClellandtown, PA. The weather was absolutely perfect for their outdoor ceremony, but--risking being overly cheesy--it wasn't the weather that warmed my heart. There was so much joy it was contagious and, by the end of the day, my cheeks were sore from smiling so much.
I think it's very common to talk about how wonderful the wedded couple is, but I am always ALWAYS so blessed by the wonderful and amazing families that we get to work with. Should I say, family? Because that is what they are: not separate families, but one big family. Nathaniel and Paige's family was wonderful and it's absolutely no wonder why these newlyweds are as lovely as they are.
One of the things that blew me away, was how spontaneous everyone was. When the sparklers for the sparkler exit were forgotten at the hotel, we quickly came up with a unique alternative that everyone was excited to participate in. Instead of sparklers, we had cellphone flashlights. Being such an on-the-fly decision, I love how the pictures turned out for this starry exit.
Rich and I met up with Paige and her mom at Hilton Garden Inn Uniontown, where they were having their hair and makeup styled. While Paige started getting her hair styled, her mom showed me to her box of detail items and spare floral clippings. As they'd put together all the florals for the day, she had a box of extras that she allowed me to use. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I was elated. I very rarely get to play with floral clippings. They did a gorgeous job on their floral arrangments.
While Rich stayed in the room to take candids, I took the dress and details down into the lobby where I found a gorgeous sitting area with a brick wall and leather couch. I loved styling the details and getting to hang the dress, which was a dream. I know hotels probably don't put too much consideration into their lobbies for wedding purposes, but Hilton Garden Inn Uniontown was great.
After getting hair and makeup finished, everyone headed out to Anthony's Lakeside Venues to finish getting ready. We met up with Nathaniel and his groomsmen first. I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever felt so short as I did surrounded by all the tall guys getting ready. I felt like a hobbit. Once they were all ready, someone went on a Taco Bell run and brought a bunch of tacos back. They vacated the room so the ladies could use it to finish getting ready and Rich took them out for group pictures.
When Paige and the bridesmaids arrived, they ate some tacos before helping Paige get into her dress. Each of her bridesmaids got to assist in Paige some way with her final look. She was absolutely heavenly in her Sorelle Bridal gown. Once ready, she went out to have a first look with her dad who had the perfect reaction.
The ceremony was held outside in front of the lake. I positioned myself towards the front so I could capture Nathaniel's reaction to Paige walking down the aisle, while Rich stayed back with Paige. There is this calm little image that Rich took that I adore and it's simply of the dress train as Paige walks out of the building toward her husband-to-be.
There were beautiful moments during the ceremony with family members doing readings. Nathaniel and Paige did had a sand unity ceremony and exchanged rings, while Paige's maid of honor adjusted her train. I always love the moment after the couple is presented, I like see how they react. This couple's celebratory reaction was perfect, as were the hight-fives they received as they walked back up the aisle as a married couple.
There were so many very memorable moments during the reception, it was probably one of the most colorful we've been to. The best man and maid of honor speeches had everyone in the room in tears. I specifically remember the maid of honor talking about how she actually hated Paige when they first met, but she grew to love her and become best friends. During dinner, Rich and I chatted with a few of the aunts and uncles and we got many family group pictures. During the father daughter dance, Paige and her dad surprised everyone when they ditched the slow dance for an upbeat choreographed dance with sunglasses and laughter. I couldn't keep the grin off my face, which just continued throughout the night. The mother son dance was emotional and touching.
After the shoe game, some of the women sat Paige down in the center of the dance floor and began doing Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance routine around her. It was amazing and had everyone laughing. DJ Wise got the party started and lit up the dance floor. I have to say that I am personally a fan of colorful lights during a reception, it's my aesthetic.
At some point, a mic got handed out to one of the groomsmen and then it seemed like everyone got a chance to sing into it. The night ended with a few tables being set up for beer pong. It was fun watching Paige and Nathaniel get into the competitive spirit while playing against some of their friends.
This wedding is definitely one we'll remember for a long time. We're so thankful that we got to be a part of it. Congratulations to Nathaniel and Paige!
