Rob + Michelle | Weirton Steel Engagement Session

Updated: Jul 2, 2019

Michelle contacted us about her wedding for a date that I personally wasn't available. Rich, who had never done a consultation without me, wanted to meet with them anyway since he was available. So he met with Michelle and Rob and, from what he told me, they were awesome and he was super excited to work with them. And then Michelle and I got to planning her engagement session and the more messages sent between us, the more I wished that I could be there to witness her wedding. I was truly jealous that I was missing out on this wedding.

Michelle messaged me one day in a panic, because plans had changed. They had to switch venues, which resulted in a switched date. Michelle was afraid that we would no longer be available, but as luck would have it, we were!

So coming into this engagement session at Weirton Steel was even better. When we arrived, it was the first time I met Rob and Michelle in person and she gave me a big hug. It was like reuniting with an old friend.

And then I made things incredibly awkward by randomly filming them without first explaining that I use video to jog my memory when I write these blogs. We all laughed and then I asked all my silly questions.

Rob and Michelle have known each other since they were children as he was Michelle's cousin's best friend. Around the time she graduated high school, she got a job at a pizza shop because that's where Rob was working, but her first day was his last day. Even though he had quit, Rob still ended up visiting the shop every day so he could see Michelle. There was something there, but as fate would have it...it wasn't time. Life happened and they separated.

A decade passed before Rob and Michelle reconnected. One day Rob went to one of her plays and told her that his parents were out of the house. Michelle took the hint and asked if he wanted to make her dinner. That night sparks flew and it was like they had never been apart. It was finally time. The difference now was that they had gained years in wisdom and experience and learned that the key to a successful relationship is communication and trust.

"And driving her nuts," Rob laughed.

"Keeping a wooden spoon around," Michelle added jokingly.

While they were vacationing in Amish Country, Michelle noticed that there wasn't any indication that clothes were required to swim in the hot tub and she pointed it out to Rob, but he was quiet and didn't respond. He had been strangely quiet all day, so she was getting a little irritated by this point. Michelle turned around to see what he was so distracted only to find him down on one knee holding out an engagement ring. Now, with their wedding only months away, they look forward to officially becoming a family--their own little unit.

In their leisure time, Rob and Michelle love to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune or go on road adventures. Their favorite roads to drive are the backroads of colliers.

Rich and I are so excited to work with Rob and Michelle and know that their wedding is going to be an absolute blast, a reflection of the couple themselves. Check out their engagement session!

I mentioned before that I would show you the goofy side of Rob and Michelle. Let me just say, I don't think I've laughed so much at an engagement session. I think the perfect way to describe our session together is this Chris Evans gif. We had a rollicking good time.

So here are some bloopers:

So I love using prompts to get genuine reactions and laughter. I told Rob to whisper in his deepest voice his favorite cereal. Apparently he said a t-bone steak, which is what got Michelle laughing so hard. I guess they don't eat cereal, so the prompt was already funny for them.

Gonna be honest, not sure what happened here, but Michelle did something that made Rob just throw his head back in exasperation.

Michelle was in drama club during high school, so she pulled out some theatrics.

While trying to explain a pose, Michelle decided to improvise and did this. I had to work a little bit of photoshop magic to add the logo.
