A SPARKLING WEDDING
Tyler and Kevin's wedding really embraced the turning of the season, with fur shawls, cool tones, and glittering details, this wedding felt as if it would have been right at home nestled in the middle of winter. As it was, the November day that this wedding found its home on was chilly and brisk, with clear sunny skies that made way to a gorgeous purple sunset. The day was long awaited, and despite the changes it went through, everything was beautiful. Tyler and Kevin created a stunning wedding. Tyler did a wonderful job pulling together every piece of the day, all of her details were gorgeous! I had so much fun photographing this wedding.
Tyler got ready at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh with her bridesmaids and Kevin got ready at their home. It was a fairly relaxed morning as each lady took turns getting their hair and makeup applied. As the day went on, the light coming through the window started to cause some interesting shadows and I had fun embracing it. When Tyler's soft look was complete, she went into the separate room to get dressed, and her dress was fantastic! When she revealed her completed look to the rest of her bridesmaids, it was all grins. Tyler was a vision!
Kevin also had a relaxed morning getting ready. He, the groomsmen, and the ring bearers had breakfast and played some video games before getting dressed. When they were ready, they headed to the hotel where he would get a first look with Tyler.
Out back of the hotel, there was a sort of shaded pavilion where Kevin waited for Tyler. The sun was already pretty high in the sky, so the bit of shade that this provided was perfect for their first look. With the assistance of her maid of honor, Tyler made her way outside and tapped Kevin on the shoulder. When he turned around, he had the most delightful reaction. This first look was full of hugs and tears and Tyler's laughter, it was wonderful.
Before covid started causing venues to cancel, Tyler and Kevin had planned to wed at Heinz Chapel. As the pandemic wore on, they made the decision to switch to Old Saint Luke's Church. As stressful as changing venues has been for many couples in the last year, I think that this ended up being a wonderful decision. This little church is charming and full of character and, for the family who was in attendance, there was plenty of space. The ceremony was short and sweet and beautiful.
Another change was the reception venue. Originally the reception was to be held at Salvatore's, but what changed to the Company Stables, which was such a pretty barn venue. Salvatore's still did the catering and it was fantastic! Moio's Italian Pastry Shop did the cookies and cake. I love those little peach cookies the kept popping up at weddings last year, they are so yummy! And then as the night wore on, there was a food truck offering up the most savory late night food.
Beyond the delicious food, this reception was a little different than I'm used to. DJ Powerbomb brought some sparkler machines to set off during the special dances, which was fun, and it gave us all a good laugh when it kept setting off the fire alarms. We also got a soul train line going and had everybody participating. The night finished off with a private final dance shared between Tyler and Kevin before they ran out to a sparkler exit.
It was a beautiful day. Rich and I are so glad we got to be a part of it. Congratulations to Tyler and Kevin!
