"August rain: The best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time."

—Sylvia Plath

What's Happening?

I can't believe August is here already. Summer has flown by. In a few short weeks, my kids will return to school and I'll return to full-time work at my day job. The kids and I have really enjoyed this summer, but they are eager to go back to school and I'm excited for wedding season to hit full swing. Before that happens, we have some last-hurrah summer activities to enjoy. We just got back from a week in Milton, WV where we were serving on a mission trip to help New Heights Church transform their new building. It was hard and hot and exhausting, but so worth it. It's amazing to see what can happen in such a short amount of time when you put your mind and body to it. It honestly gives me motivation for other aspects of my life, like digging down to finish my novel while being a wife, mom, employee, and business owner, among other things. Rich was just asking me if I wanted to go back to school to get a degree in musical arts, which I kind of laughed off, but it makes me wonder...

I might be just a tad too busy to squeeze that into my already packed schedule, but maybe one day.

We returned from the trip this past Saturday and then I went out with some friends on Sunday to see the Barbie movie, which was so much fun. Yesterday we took the kids to Kennywood for the second time this summer and to finish out our summer we have a second trip to Sand Castle planned and maybe a trip to the beach. We'll see. I don't really like the idea of leaving my dog for another extended amount of time, but if I can find somewhere that accommodates pets, maybe we'll fit it in. In the midst of all that, I have to get some shopping in for school supplies and uniforms and get galleries edited and delivered. We had one wedding last month and another one is coming up shortly. I imagine August is going to zip by and fall will be here before we know it.

What has been going on with you this summer? Are you ready for it to be over and fall to begin? I'm always a fan of summer and getting to relax with my kids, but I love wedding season and am eager to be out shooting every weekend. What are your plans to celebrate the end of summer? How about a summer's end portrait session? Get in contact with me to schedule something. Open spots are limited!
